Fuel bowser removal and replacement
The Challenge
The client required the removal of an existing towable fuel bowser and replacement with a 2000 L bunded fuel cube at a site with very limited access and steep loose rocky conditions.
Conventional delivery plant could not be used due to the tight access route and the need to minimise environmental impact and ground disturbance.
Equipment selection and planning would therefore be critical to deliver the replacement safely and efficiently.
Our Approach
Following a site assessment, our team determined that the tracked Avant 760 articulated loader was ideally suited for the task.
- Compact in size, yet capable of lifting over 1400 kg, the Avant provided excellent manoeuvrability within the restricted site boundaries.
- Low ground pressure tracks and careful route planning ensured minimal surface disturbance.
Working under a site-specific risk assessment and method statement (RAMS), the bowser was safely extracted and relocated off-site.
The 2000 L bunded fuel cube was then delivered and carefully positioned using the Avant 760.
All work was conducted in full compliance with site safety procedures and environmental protection standards.
The Result
- Existing towable bowser safely removed from site.
- New 2000 L bunded fuel cube delivered and installed with no ground damage or environmental impact.
- Task completed swiftly and without incident, allowing refuelling operations to continue immediately.
- Demonstrated ability to operate efficiently in confined, sensitive, and restricted-access environments.
